Cinque terre
The Five Lands, five little villages, five romantic places of extraordinary beauty. One way, one path called La Via Dell'Amore (Path of Love)! That's what you'll find if you decide to visit this rugged portion of coast full of bays and headlands.
This part of the Italian riviera in Liguria is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. This popular tourist destination cannot be reached by car from the outside. Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore are connected between themselves by walking trails (one of them is the famous Path of Love). A local train from La Spezia to Genoa passes through the tunnels, and only once in a while you can catch a quick glimpse of the Mediterranean sea, a real postcard site.
The villages are not influenced by modern development, and that simple, original look, combined with pretty colorful houses, arranged one upon another like stairs, give this piece of Ligurian coast quite a charm.
